“I choose this life. I know what I’m doing. And on any given day, I could stop doing it. Today, however isn’t that day. And tomorrow won’t be either” — BATMAN.

Getting lost bites! As far as I can remember as a kid getting lost was the norm for me and I ask myself “what’s new?” Not a thing! Zippo! There’s a strong chance you will carry habits from childhood into your adult life unless you change those unruly habits.

Recently went on vacay to The San Bernadino Mountains (Big Bear Vacinity) as I have family that live there and was asked to house and cat sit so of course I was ecstatically happy and said of course! I need a mini get-away anywhooo and could sure use some R&R in the woods away from the city!

Well it so happens the peaceful trip I was expecting turned out to be super challenging for me as it felt more like I was in the movie “The Hunger Games” and forget about relaxing! Well, at least for the first 3 days for that matter…

MockingJay (The Hunger Games)

Once I overcame the fear of the flaming fires getting close to where I was residing at life became more hopeful however had to challenge my mind to think 100% positive as what we focus on grows and was not going to go down like that. Had to become “Fearless!”

My belief is we never stop growing.

We learn something through hardship, overcome it and then here comes another challenge! I’m not saying life needs to be difficult. Certainly not however we learn the most from failures than wins. As we grow and another challenge comes up we are stronger for it and can definitely be prepared to deal with whatever comes our way.

“Life doesn’t have to be hard yet when it comes we will deal with it” — Laura Ramos

Have you ever experienced anything tough and then out of left field…here comes something else?

Life. It happens!

Well, what happened next was sooooo unexpected! I was in peace, relaxing after the whole ordeal but something within me wanted excitement! I wanted to explore! Was feeling quite rebellious and was getting bored cooped up in a cabin house although very cozy but it was summer and I wanted to be near water and trees so I remember my sister said I can walk to the lake to get some form of exercise. Of course feed “honey” the kitty first :)

So I did that! Had a great time. Went kayaking which I had never done (no judgement!) ha!

How do you go white water rafting but never kayaking?

Very odd I know! :) We live in such a world of rules and regulations that it has to be this way or the highway. I say pave your own way! Make splashes!!!

As I made my way back home noticed it was getting darker and it’s a good 45 minute walk from the lake… I was feeling pretty good like a fish in fresh water, rejuvenated and because it was getting darker and had no phone reception decided to make a video on overcoming challenges because I had just overcame the fires.

What happened next was straight out of a movie!

Can we say Batman!

Although at that moment I didn’t realize it. (fast forward a week later) I had that aha! moment @ home in San Pedro.

Drum Rolls anyone????

I got lost!

Ha! It was pretty dark but was able to see the road and thank God I had enough battery left in my android cell phone to give me light to walk. I was already thinking of a plan in case I see wild animals but had to overcome it by saying nope! It’s not going to happen! Your almost there your almost there! And using my camera to create a video was my distraction. Weird, but for some reason I felt the phone was my friend.

I was soo into the video that I started to not recognize the path I was on and let alone it was getting pitch dark. Well, seems that I’ve entered the blood sucking

BATWORLD!

How did I enter these caves? Where did the bats come from? And How do the residents in this area live among bats? Creepy!

To understand more of what I was going through check out the actual video I took “Live” although it’s inspiring I had to walk the talk because when I thought I had exit the darkness of the caves which was scary and finally almost home that is when I knew I was lost as nothing looked familiar! I looked around and said Ok… CUT! No more filming.

This ishhh is real!

Fear started to creep, I was sweating not sure if the exercise or because I was scared like hell!

walking through the bat caves

Had no choice but to turn around which meant I had to walk through the caves AGAIN! It’s only a one way in and one way out. So I said a prayer as if I am about to run a marathon ha! getting ready to run through. I put my hoodie sweater and all I can hear is wings flapping and I duck up and down as if I am bobbing and weaving (kickboxing) ha!

When you have no choice but to run through a dilemma you have to muster courage! I mean really…

Did I have a choice?

No! I didn’t. However I made it out and laughed but the type of nervous laugh like “What just happen?!” Is this for reals?! And how did I get distracted and end up there?!

Being that I was curious as to why I encountered bats decided to Google what bats are about and if it makes any sense as to what just happened. Yes I am very curious! (he-he)

As per my findings bats are misunderstood animals due to movie which depict bats into vampires however they are highly social creatures. They love to congregate with their family in huge numbers inside caves. Bats symbolize rebirth because they go “inside” their cave which represents going within and if you encounter bats it would mean you need to go within, get a journal, take a vacation and write. (I was on vacay at this time so it was on point)

Once they emerge from their caves and experience the outside world they are highly attuned to their surroundings. The highly sensitive bat can pick up movement of prey. If the bat has chosen you, this means that you will have a chance to improve your abilities and yourself ten-fold. You may find this a bit challenging as you will be called to go within and explore ALL of you. You will find yourself learning to not only love your enemies but even the darkest parts of yourself. When you accomplish this, you will realize the profound rewards that come from having compassion for your fellow man and all of his follies through learning to love your own.

I have a dark side?!

Is that my fear of bats? ha! I’m not perfect that’s for sure nobody is however as I question what it is that I feared the most? I would say…It’s getting bit by one that have rabies and probably being lost in the dark just like in the movie “Batman Begins” Christian Bale traces his roots of childhood to his fear of bats as he falls in the well. Well, mine was getting lost in unknown places or school. I cried in pre-school and wanted to go home. (introverted me) and sleeping in the dark.

Culturally, the bat symbolized great luck and wealth to the Chinese. This is because the same word/pronunciation for bat, “fu,” also means prosperity in Chinese. The bat is seen as a symbol of transition and change (not only for the season but for humans experiencing life change as well).

So does this mean I’m going to have great luck and be wealthy? :)

In a nutshell bats reflect the need to face up our fears. Bats are also sociable animals which can indicate a need for more sociability or increased opportunity with greater numbers of people.

Ever seen Batman Begins with Christian Bale? An amazing movie AND an amazing actor! :)

Batman Begins 2005 trailer

I’ve never watched “Batman Begins” until recently as I was researching bats and there is a correlation between the actual animal and the movie. Human becomes Batman. Human fears bats. Human needs to overcome this fear as bats is their alter-ego. Their companion. It’s an ending and a beginning. In the movie Christian Bale becomes “Batman” once he overcomes his fears with his protege by his side in teaching him how to have courage and use intelligence, skills and all knowing. Be one step ahead.

Hate to break it but I’m not Batman unless your Ben Affleck or Bart Simpson :)

However the movie portrays facts that were helpful as I watched it and end with these philosophical quotes.

What you really fear is inside yourself. The fear of your own power, your anger. The drive to do great and terrible things. — Movie Quotes

Dare to be fearless!
